Shopping for vintage things leads me to dusty old cabins, hart-to-find estate sales and at times to our super fun local thrift stores.
What I love, love about thrift stores is you never know what you will find. Mixed media . . . old things, dusty stuff, even an occasional antique collectible.
Recently, as I sifted through a mishap collection of mostly old, and rather "had-it" looking art work at our local thrift store, I spotted a rather unique oil painting of a little girl holding a big bunch of flowers . . . something about this painting spoke to me. The painting brought back a bunch of happy early childhood memories of my sister and I playing in our elderly neighbors strawberry field during the warm, California summers.
As I stepped back in the store and studied the large painting, under those always much-too-bright-flourescent store lights, I decided this painting needed to find a temporary home in my vendor booth in the mountains. After all, she is obviously joyfully sharing a moment with nature in the painting, and how lovely this piece would look on a vintage cabin wall . . . Come and see my newest find, Little Girl, Big Flowers . . . Maybe you can help me date the piece!
Warmly,
Lisa
